1Background & Motivation
"Everyone has things they no longer need, but throwing them away feels wasteful. What if giving them away could be as fun as scrolling TikTok?"
Too many usable items go to waste.
Traditional resale apps add pricing friction.
Giving should feel social, fast, and rewarding.
WeNeed combines short-video discovery with a no-cash point loop, turning gifting into a lightweight daily behavior.
2My Role
UX Design
User research, information architecture, interaction design for video-first browsing, publishing flow, and item claiming
UI Design
Visual design system with blue/amber palette, dark video feed, light browse grid, category navigation, and glassmorphism elements
Product Strategy
We Points virtual economy design, gamification mechanics, user incentive model, and growth loop strategy
Prototyping
High-fidelity interactive prototype with video backgrounds, swipe gestures, modal flows, and animated transitions
3Design Challenges
- Keep video browsing playful while still helping users evaluate real items quickly.
- Balance We Points economics so giving stays attractive and abuse stays low.
- Build trust signals for a no-cash transaction model.
- Unify immersive feed UX and utility-focused grid UX in one product language.
4Key Features I Designed
Short-Video Item Feed
Swipeable full-screen videos make item discovery instant and emotionally engaging.
We Points Virtual Economy
A simple earn-and-spend loop rewards giving and keeps the ecosystem moving.
Dual Browse Modes
An immersive feed for discovery and a structured grid for intentional search.
3-Step Publishing Flow
Record, describe, confirm. The posting flow is optimized for low friction.
Want It! Claiming System
One tap opens a transparent claim modal with points and delivery options.
5Design Process
Process focus: validate incentive loops early, then refine feed interactions and trust details through prototype testing.
What I Learned
Familiar behavior patterns can unlock new behaviors fast. The biggest lesson was tuning the We Points loop so giving feels immediately rewarding while claiming still feels fair and transparent.
